Hend Fakhroo is a multi-cultural Qatari writer and director who has lived all over the world. Her first short, HIS NAME (2012), was screened at festivals around the world, including the Festival de Cannes, the Doha Tribeca Film Festival and the River Film Festival. Fakhroo grew up heavily influenced by her Egyptian grandfather, Mohamed Tawfiq, an acclaimed actor and director. She started making films in 2003 while attending university in Austin, Texas, and started her own production company, Certifiable Productions, in 2013. She is currently developing two feature films with a focus on bridging the gap between Arab films and international audiences. |
