Alexis Grivas was born in Athens and studied in the field of cinema in Athens and Paris where he graduated as a director photography from the Institute of Higher Cinema Studies. Since 1967 and until today he has worked as a director of photography in more than 50 Greek and international film productions. He has collaborated as a freelance in French magazines for cinema and as a correspondent for Greek press. From 1967 and for eleven years he was a correspondent for an Italian news agency in Mexico. While in 1978 he moved back to Greece and worked as foreign correspondent for Mexican press and magazines of cinematographic content. He was also the publisher and editor of the Greek magazine Greek Cinema. He has been heading the international promotion of the Mexican film industry. He is the main representative and adviser about international film festivals for the Mexican Film Institute, while from 1998 until 2001 he was responsible for the foreign press and international coordination of Thessaloniki International Film Festival. He is a member of the International Federation of Film Critics and European Film Academy. Throughout his carrier Alexis Grivas has achieved many distinctions and awards.
Currently, Grivas is the Greek Film Center's President. |
