He studied Acting in Chisinau and at the Film Institute (VGIK), Moscow. Since 1990 he’s been working at the National Theatre “Vasile Alecsandri” Iasi, Romania. He staged many theatre plays and played many important theatre roles.
His most important collaborations in film are: Pe aripile vinului/ Gone with the Wine and Calatorie la ora?/ A Trip to the City (2003) directed by Corneliu Porumboiu, Hartia va fi albastra/ The Paper Will Be Blue (2006) by Radu Muntean, 4 luni, 3 saptamani si 2 zile/ 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days (2007) by Cristian Mungiu, California Dreamin' (2007) by Cristian Nemescu.
For the role of Tiberiu Manescu in 12:08 East of Bucharest, he received the prizes:
Best Actor (for the three main characters) – Essone (France, 2006),
Best Actor (for the three main characters) – Siena Film Festival, (Italy, 2006),
Best Actor – Gopo Awards (Romania, 2007). |
