MARIA DINULESCU trained at the National University of Cinema and Drama in Bucharest, Romania.
Her work for the theatre included productions in Romania and she attended master-classes in theatre-dance and ancient theatre.
She came to public attention in 2003 when one of the first shorts she played in, "Traffic", won the Golden Palm in Cannes.
The feature which brought her back to Cannes was "California Dreamin' (endless)", the Un Certain Regard winner in 2007.
Maria was awarded in France and Georgia as the best actress for the character that she played in it.
Until now, she has played in more than 20 shorts - fiction films, commercials, video-clips -, has done several television series and 12 features, in 7 of which she as the lead character.
Maria subsequently worked with Adrian Sitaru on his debut feature "Hooked", which had its world premiere at the 65th Venice Film Festival; her performance was described by Hollywood Reporter and Variety as being "bewitching and bubbly (in a difficult role)". The jury from Thessaloniki Film Festival appreciated her this year as the best actress.
Maria worked with directors Radu Mihaileanu, Catalin Mitulescu, Cristian Nemescu and some of her partners were Rutger Hauer, Armand Assante, Anthony Delon and Guillaume Depardieu. |
