His feature film "Minor Freedoms" was financed and coproduced with Lars von Trier’s production company ZENTROPA. Cineuropa named him as "one of the most outstanding directors of contemporary auteur cinema", Guardian as "one of the main protagonists of the burgeoning Greek new cinema wave», French newspaper L’Humanite refers to Costas Zapas as “the Greek exception”, and Pagina12, the most important Spanish Latin America newspaper characterized his latest film “is the most explosive vein of the brilliant new wave of Greek cinema”. His films have been presented in various A’ category international film festivals around the world with excellent critics and have been released outside Greece. Thessaloniki International Film Festival focus on Costas Zapas work, hosting a retrospective with all of his films in its latest 53th edition in November 2012. |
