Diana Dobreva graduated from Theatre College Ljuben Groys in Sofia, French Studies from the Sofia University (MA degree) and Art History from the Sorbonne in Paris. In 2000 2006 she acted in the Theatre Laboratory Sfumato where she performed in the plays The Black Fleece, Zen Zone, Valley of the Dead Shadow. She also acted in the National Theatre Ivan Vazov, City Theater "Off the Channel, Scene Nationale" Annecy, France. Diana played leading roles in several Bulgarian and foreign films. For Warden of the Dead (dir. Ilian Simeonov) and Monkeys in Winter (dir. Milena Andonova) she received Best Actress award at the Festival of Bulgarian Cinema Golden Rose, 2006. She also acted in La fine del mare (dir. Nora Hoppe) together with Miki Manojlovic, and Small Talk (dir. Vladimir Kraev).
In the past several years Diana is mainly a theatre director. In 2006 she staged Medea in Sfumato for which she won Asker for Best Debut and was nominated for Ikar. Her next theatre production as director was Makbeth (Asker 2008 for music and costumes). In 2009 she staged Casanova which took part in the prestigious theatre festival in Avignon, France. |
