Petko Manchev was born in 1964. He graduated from the French high school in Varna. He holds MA degrees from the Bulgarian National Conservatory and the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts where he graduated in Film Directing in the class of prof. Ivan Nichev. In 1994 he founded the recording studio BGArt and specialized in sound design and music recording.
He wrote the music for over thirty theater and puppet theatre plays staged in Sofia and other Bulgarian cities. For Cinderella he was awarded Golden Dolphin. He also wrote the music for three ballets – Don’t Tоuch the Mouse won the Main Prize of the Competition “Maria Anraudova”. His musical Cats in Prague has been on stage in Prague for 8 years already.
Petko is the composer of many animated, TV and feature films: The Incredible Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor; The History of Krastova Gora, The Sin of Zen, The Icons, Matador, The eyes of Fire, I Want him Dead, She, the Sinner, Souffle d’amore.
He is also the sound designer of the following films: I Want Him Dead /Victoria Ilieva/, The Eyes of Fire /Petar Petrov/, She, the Sinner /Yordan Yordanov/, Ruth /Vlado Shishkov/, Cuba is Music /Ilian Djevelekov/, Crayfish /Ivan Cherkelov/, Zift /Javor Gardev/, Shanghai Belle /Jean-Louis Daniel/, Shelter /Dragomir Sholev/ and others.
