Georgios Papaioannou was born in Thessaloniki on January 14, 1980. He grew up in Kavala and from an early age showed an interest in the field of computers, specifically in image processing and audio technology for films. He returned to Thessaloniki in 1997, where, along with his studies at the Polytechnic School of Civil Engineering (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), he began to experiment with amateur film making.
In the autumn of 1999, he formed an independent film production team called "OTiNaNAi Productions", which has created several unofficial digital shorts. He has also directed music videos and video art performances. Super Demetrios is his feature film debut.
