Turdor Giurgiu (b. 1972 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania) is a Romanian film director and producer. He was President of the Romanian National Television, TVR between 2005 and 2007. He is the founder and owner of the production company Libra Film, an independent production and distribution company, owner of Transilvania Film and film/music magazine Re:public. He is also the initiator and honorary President of the Transylvannia Int’l Film Festival – TIFF (1st and the most important Int’l Festival for feature films from Romania). Also the founder of Romanian Film Promotion, an organization dealing with promotion of Romanian filmsvabroad and also with the annual organization of TIFF. Initiator of the GOPO Awards, (annual awards for best achievements in local filmmaking - local equivalent of the Oscar or Cesar awards). He is a member of the board of ACRO, Romanian Filmmakers’ Association. Tudor Giurgiu is also a director of music videos and has made documentaries. Love Sick, his first full-length film, was released in Romania 2006. |
