Nelly Dimitrova studied at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krustyo Sarafov” (NATFA) in Sofia, and graduated with a Master of Arts degree. She is now the Principal Assistant Professor of the Department of Dramaturgy, Film and TV Critical Studies at her alma mater.
She has co-written a number of animated projects such as The Incredible Adventures of Sinbad the Sailor and Love Story, as well as written and directed the documentary Tatu in Bulgaria (2002). She has also scripted several music and corporative awards shows on both bTV and Nova TV in the period 2001 – 2008.
In 2004 she was appointed supervisor of the scriptwriters team on Hotel Bulgaria, the daily drama series on Nova TV.
She is the screenwriter of The Magic Cake of Auntie Bantie, a 3D animation in production, funded by the Bulgarian National Film Center.
Nelly is a member of the Board of Directors of BAFTRS (the Bulgarian Association of the Film, Television and Radio Scriptwriters).
