Konstantinos Kontovrakis was born and raised in Athens, Greece. He obtained a BA in Film Studies and English Literature and an MA in Arts Management in London. He worked for years as a journalist, a film critic and a publicist. In the meantime, Konstantinos Kontovrakis had been collaborating with the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, for which he worked for ten years mainly as a programmer. In 2009, Konstantinos Kontovrakis moved to production. Since then, Konstantinos worked as an executive producer in Wasted Youth (2011) by Argyris Papadimitropoulos, which was the Opening Film of the 40th IFFR Tiger Award Competition and has since traveled to more than 30 international film festivals. He just completed as an executive producer the debut feature of Ektoras Lygizos The Boy Is Eating the Bird’s Food (Competition, 47th Karlovy Vary IFF) and is in post-production of another debut feature, Standing aside, watching a contemporary drama directed by Yorgos Servetas and coproduced with Fenia Cossovitsa of Blonde Audiovisual Productions (selected for Paris Screenings & Cinelink Works in Progress). He is developing two features, ForEver by Margarita Manda (selected for Paris Projects) and Twice a Stranger by Dora Masklavanou. Konstantinos Kontovrakis has attended the Creative Producers Lab at Binger and graduated the 2011 Producers’ Workshops at EAVE. He shares his time between Athens and Amsterdam. He established two companies in both cities, KONTEXT (www.kon-text.nl) in Amsterdam, which provides services and consultancy to European producers, and KINESTET, an independent production house, in Athens.
