Dinko Appelt was born in Zagreb in 1976. He graduated with a degree in conducting from the class of Maestro Vjekoslav Šutej at the Zagreb Music Academy in 1999. He has conducted the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre in Split, the Symphonic Brass Orchestra of the Croatian Army, and the Mixed Choir of Croatian Radio-Television, with whom he put on the Christmas concert in the Sfumato series. He also arranged and conducted the musical biography Piaf and the musicals Little House of Horrors, Hair, Aida, The Full Monty and Grease. He was awarded a Croatian Actors’ Guild award for the performance of Chicago in 2004, and again for The Full Monty in 2006. He has been composing music for the theatre for the past 15 years. In recent years, he has regularly conducted several series of youth concerts, organized by the Zagreb Philharmonic and performed in Osijek, Ðakovo and Vukovar. Pieces by Dvorak, Chausson and Brahms were featured. He conducted Pictures at an exhibition by M.P. Mussorgski in spring 2009, and Scheherazade by Nikolaj Rimski-Korsakova in spring 2010. |
