Petar Markovic was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1955. He studied film and television editing at the Academy for Theatre, Film, Radio and TV in Belgrade (1973-1977). He became a member of the association of Independent Filmmakers of Yugoslavia as a film editor in 1978. He has been living and working in Berlin since 1988. Markovic’s distinguished career as a film editor includes over 70 feature films, 65 film documentaries and shorts as well as numerous television documentaries. In 1987 he won the “Golden Arena” Award for Best Editing at the Pula Film Festival for his work on the feature “HI-FI”. Markovic won the “Golden Mimosa” Award for Best Editing at the Herceg Novi Film Festival twice – in 1996 for his work on the features “Pretty Village, Pretty Flame” and “Prematured Murder” and in 1998 for “The Wounds” and “The Hornet”. In 1998 he also won the “Crystal Prism ” Award for Best Editor in recognition of his work on “Pretty Village, Pretty Flame”. Petar Markovic has also won several awards and distinctions for the documentaries and shorts he has edited. |
