Ekrem Kryeziu was born in Peja in 1943. After graduation worked as an actor in the National Theatre of Pristina. Than, goes to study law in Zagreb. At this time deals with writing stories and plays for which is awarded with prizes. For lack of fundings, he interrupts his studies in Zagreb and returns to Pristina where continues his studies in law. Collaborates with all the magazines of the time and works as a reporter and translator in the newspaper "Renaissance". Being pursued by the investigation bodies for his political views that conflict with official politics positions, Kryeziu is removed again from Pristina and goes to Belgrade to study dramaturgy in the Faculty of Arts. As a student begins to work in Television of Belgrade. Once TV Pristina oppened, Kryeziu begins to work in this TV as a speaker then as director, screenwriter, editor and producer. At this time starts realizing his first television works writing his own scripts. In 1996 establishes branch of dramaturgy at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pristina, gives lectures in dramatics and in skills of writing drama. In 1978, successfully directs theater plays and first films. In 1981 is imprisoned and sentenced to eight years in prison as ideator of the popular movement for the Republic of Kosovo. After prison begins to write political analysis published in magazines and radios of Kosovo, Italy and USA. In 1989, Ekrem Kryeziu established the company "Labia" which produces films written by him. |
