Alek Popov is among the most-read and most translated Bulgarian authors. He is an author of collections of short stories and essays, novels and plays. Alek Popov style is remarkable for absurd, irony, black comedy, twists. His novel “Mission London”, described as the funniest book of the Transition, has already been issued in six editions in Bulgarian and has been translated into over ten languages. The author has won Elias Canetty Prize for his newest novel “The Black Box” and The Flower of Helicon Award for most sold book in 2007, as well as the United Bulgarian Banks Award for book of the year 2007. The novel has been translated into German, Polish, Turkish and Serbian.
