Erdem Tepegoz was born in Izmir, Turkey. He studied economics at Dokuz Eylul University and later, educated at Prague Film School. Later, he settled down in Istanbul. He worked as an assistant director for a while. By that time, he also made short films such as "Kafes/The Cage" (2008) -nominated for Best Short Film Award at 45th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.- and "Kukla Adam/Dummy Man" (2008). His first feature-film, "Zerre" was completed in 2012. That year, "Zerre/The Particle" competed at 49th Golden Orange Film Festival and brought Tepegoz a "Best Director" award. -the youngest director who received that award- "Zerre" was also awarded with "Best First Film", "Best Art Direction" and "Turkish Film Critics Association Award".
